What We Do


Our club is unique in that we are a departmental group that seeks to organize community service activities which relate to topics relevant to GDBBS students, faculty, and staff. Our club also seeks to foster inter-program networking opportunities too through participation in our events.

Below are just some of our volunteering event activities over the years:

  • Wesley Woods
    • Played BINGO and other games with people at the retirement home
  • Trees Atlanta
    • Tree pruning, planting, weed removal; beltline cleanups
  • Habitat for Humanity
    • Helped restore homes
  • Chattahoochee River Keepers clean ups
    • Paddle river clean ups
    • Sweep the Hooch
  • Atlanta Community Food Bank
    • Sorted and packed food for those living with hunger and low-income communities
    • Organized food drives
  • El Refugio
    • Visited Stuart Detention Center and spoke with the refugees in the confinement facilities
  • Hot Chocolate Run & Autism Speaks Walk
    • Volunteered at the 5k/15k to organize runners/walkers
    • Helped to raise money for charities
  • Atlanta Science Festival
    • Walked with students around the festival and showed them the booths
  • Dekalb Regional Science Festival
    • Served as judges for students competing in the science festival
  • Urban Gardens
    • Volunteered with Urban Farms and Concrete Jungle
    • Cultivated and planted fruits and vegetables
    • Helped to pack food to go to communities in need
  • Ronald McDonald House
    • Cooked meals for families staying at the house who have children in the hospitals
  • Holiday Card Making
    • Made cards for service men and women, veterans, and detained refugees
    • Sent cards to retirements homes during COVID since they couldn’t have visitors
  • Toys for Tots
    • Toy drive for children in the community in need during the holiday season
    • Sorted toys for distribution
  • RescueCats
    • Cleaned the cat adoption center and the kitten facilities
    • Help socialize the cats
  • Mask Donations
    • Sewed masks and donated them to healthcare workers during COVID
  • Letter Writing Campaigns
    • Partnered with The Letter Project and "Adopt" a Healthier Worker Initiative
    • Sent letters & cards to young girls who need encouragement during COVID
    • Sent letters to health care workers during COVID, expressing our appreciation & providing encouragement for all their tireless efforts
    • Focused on emotional wellbeing
  • Hope For Domestic Violence Neighborhood Drive
    • Coordinated a clothing and school supplies drive for women staying in a shelter due to domestic violence with Emory and collected donation items from faculty and students during COVID
  • Toiletries Drive
    • Partnered with Dignity Pack Project
    • Bought, sorted, packaged, & donated toiletries to be distributed to people experiencing homelessness
