Who We Are

The Division Student Advisory Council of the Division of Biological and Biomedical Sciences of the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences of Emory University (DSAC), is composed of all graduate programs administered through the Graduate Division of Biological and Biomedical Sciences. Every graduate program within the Division is represented in DSAC by an appointed student from each of the 8 programs represented include: Biochemistry, Cell and Developmental Biology (BCDB), Cancer Biology (CB) Genetics and Molecular Biology (GMB), Immunology and Molecular Pathogenesis (IMP), Microbiology and Molecular Genetics (MMG), Molecular and Systems Pharmacology (MSP), Neuroscience (NS), and Population Biology, Ecology and Evolution (PBEE). The Assistant Director for Student Affairs is the Advisor and acts as a liaison between DSAC and the administrative staff of the Division.

I started in the Biochemistry, Cell, and Developmental Biology Program in the Fall of 2019 and am studying the metabolome of chronic lung diseases like cystic fibrosis in the Chandler and Tirouvanziam labs. I earned my B.Sc. in Biology at the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill and worked at the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences before attending Emory. I am excited to serve as the BCDB rep to DSAC to help improve the graduate experience of GDBBS students. I love hiking, biking, concerts, and sporting events!

DSAC president from 2022 to present. I am a 2nd year GMB student studying astrocyte reactivity in the Sloan Lab, as well as the chair of the Wellness Committee. I earned my B.S. in Cellular and Molecular Biology from the University of Michigan in 2017, then worked in a lab at the University of Michigan School of Dentistry studying regeneration of salivary glands after injury. I hope to use the Wellness Committee to help graduate students across GDBBS lead healthier lives! When I’m not in the lab, I’m either reading, gardening, or playing with my cat!
